Proceed with caution - I, like many, decided that the way to go was minimalist and the sales rep in Curry s where i first saw this unit, swore by it so i bought one here on Amazon, sooo much cheaper. It arrived within 3 days which was great although i ve only just set the thing up 3 weeks later :-)Its a great looking unit and i especially like the sub with its gloss black face which matches my new Samsung plasma a treat ,BUT!!!!, alas, even though it was a doddle to set up(2 mins) the sound has to be very much desired. There is no where near enough bass and treble control and the sound is soo tinny.I thought i d stick saving private ryan on as the opening sound to that film is pretty spectactular.Great film now let down by uncontrolable sound. You literally could nt hear the men speak because of all the ambient sound which contained so much treble.I , sorry, but i cant understand how the others can be so positive, the sound is damn right aweful.I m only rating this 2stars on the style and concept and i ll be looking to change this system very very soon.
brilliant - Ive had this system for about 5 months now and all i can say is that this is one hell of a system, from the sound quality to the picture quality expecially when upscaling which is near HD quality. the design is fantastic and fits right infront of the tv, or can be wall mounted. the sub woofer is active which makes it even better, the only snag, however is the fact its not multi regional which would have top it of. but overall it is a brilliant system and i would recomend it to anyone who is looking for a decent home entertainment system.
Philips HTS8100 - Excellent - I have had this sound bar in use now for approx 10 weeks and it sounds better by the day. Easy to install and set up if your looking for classly sound system this is the one to have DVD playback is excellent, only slight drawback is limited bass and treble controls.
Philips HTS8100 - DVD Home Cinema Soundbar - With HDMI & Ambisound - What a system! I was amazed how such a small speaker block could produce such rich sounds. The subwoofer is the hub of the system and rumbles deep throaty bass with complements the speakers in the bar itself. When you have it correctly situated in the home, films like Saving Private Ryan (which I tested the system with) ring around the room. It was easy to setup with a HDMI cable to watch DVDs and a SCART lead to have the TV sound linked up to the bar. I have used the radio tuner, which again was easy to use with auto setup.
Philips Sound Bar - Excellent - Purchased Philips HTS8100 Sound Bar to replace my Bose system. Was worried that I had made the wrong decision ...but how wrong I was! Sound and dvd picture quality are even better that the Bose 3.2.1 - gives a real cinema feel to film watching and the sound bar itself looks very impressive , even the sub woofer looks like a classy coffee table - excellent value for money and dont think there are many home cinema systems on the market that can beat it for quality and looks
